Quality masonry work completed across the GTA.

See completed projects for brick repair, chimneys, stone work, and concrete repairs carried out with care, skill, and close attention to detail.

Brick #1

The back addition was constructed for use as an office. It faces east and includes large windows for extra natural light. We used Upper Canada bricks to close in the addition, matching the existing brick as closely as possible in both colour and size while giving it a bright, updated appearance.

Brick #2

This was an older historic building, so the work had to be carefully planned and the materials had to be properly sourced. Some materials were reused. We rebuilt the base and all of the brickwork, using rock-face brick to match the existing structure, matched the mortar colour, and rebuilt it to reflect the original appearance as closely as possible. We also parged the inner walls of the pillars to improve performance and placed caulking around the base where the wood posts sit on the pillar caps.

Brick #3

This project involved precast steps and badly deteriorated bricks. We removed the precast steps and formed and poured a new concrete step, which should perform better and last much longer than prefabricated precast units. We also removed all of the damaged bricks. The backup wall block was in poor condition, so we replaced it and parged the wall to help prevent water penetration. New bricks were then installed, and a drip edge was created under the porch landing to stop water from draining down the face of the new brick. This addressed one of the main reasons the original bricks had become so badly damaged.

Brick #4

This was a commercial building in the downtown core with an older arch design and quoins-style brick pattern. The wall had old metal ties, similar to medium nails, that had failed and rusted due to water penetration from the roof flashing. As a result, the wall had started to pull forward by almost 2 to 3 inches. We used Strong Boy system jacks and 2x4s to support the upper wall, then removed the lower section, rebuilt it, and used a modern wall tie system to secure the brick and correct the problem. This was another historic project. After the brickwork was completed, we also repaired and caulked the problem flashing and the areas around the windows.

Brick #5

This project was another addition where we matched the new bricks as closely as possible to the existing ones. For this one, we used Federal White mortar sand and a small amount of light ochre tint to match the existing mortar colour. We also installed weep holes, rigid insulation, and new limestone window sills. The project was well built and designed to perform well under different weather conditions.

Brick #6

This was a garden suite project. We installed a heavy-duty metal base to carry the load of the brick. We used a brick stretcher pattern followed by a header brick course. Because the brick was metric modular size, the bricklaying process took more time to complete.

Build #7

This project was a full garage build, beginning with excavation and poured footings, followed by concrete block construction, the roof, and wood facing. A concrete ramp leading into the entrance was also completed.

Block #8

This was an old sliding door opening that had originally been used for large machines or items to pass through, but it was no longer needed. We supported the opening with Strong Boys and a jack post, toothed out the sides, and filled the opening in with new 8-inch blocks.
